“Children and parents feel better after spending time in the natural world, even if it’s in their own backyard,”
-- Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods.

We want all of you to get outside, we want you to have fun, and we want you to celebrate nature and the outdoor places that make us happy!

And we’re going to help.

Come to the "Discover the Great Outdoors Expo" on April 30, and connect with local hiking and camping clubs, outdoor and sporting goods retailers, local parks and recreation departments, and more. Whether you already spend time outdoors, or wish you did, this event has something for everyone. We might even pitch our tents in the Literary Garden!

Canoeing and kayaking, from Thompson's Lake to the Great Sacandaga Lake...

Who will be there?

Experts from throughout the Capital Region are exhibiting Door Prizes galore!
at this field fest! They'll show you how to make the most of our great recreational location.

Remember, we are minutes from great canoeing and kayaking, a 15-minute drive to great hiking in the Helderbergs, and right between two of the best mountain recreation areas in the country, the Catskills to the south and Adirondacks to the north. And lakes? Don't even get us started on all the wonderful lakes we have in our area...

Here are just a few of the exhibitors...                          Click here to get a printable flyer about this Expo.

Hiking along the Hudson, or tackling challenging trails in the Shawangunks

For the Youngsters:

Miss Barbara will hold a Family Storyhour for preschoolers to 2nd graders during the Expo! So kids, come to the Storyhour Room ... you'll have a blast playing outdoorsy games, singing camping songs, and hanging out in a ... tent!

This event happens rain or shine!
See you there.
