English for Speakers of Other Languages Guilderland Public Library is committed to serving its increasingly diverse population – through the materials we purchase, programs we plan, grant funds we seek, and the partnerships we forge with other not-for-profit community groups, such as Literacy New York Greater Capital Region. With Literacy New York Greater Capital Region, the Library frequently offers tutor training workshops for both ESOL and Basic Literacy, and we’re always looking for more volunteer tutors! We maintain a large collection of ESOL materials – just look for the brightly colored ESOL sign on top of the shelves near the Adult Services Periodicals room. The Library lends out a laptop loaded with Rosetta Stone® English language software, so learners can use this great resource at home. We also offer quiet study room space for Literacy New York tutors and their students to work together. If you’re interested in learning more about ESOL resources at the Library, check out our ESOL Research Guide. If you are an ESOL tutor or student, you’ll want to visit the Internet Links for Tutors and Links for Students. Any questions? Just ask Maria Buhl, Adult Services Librarian; 456-2400 ext. 31. |
